Registration Now Open for 2017 Speak Out for Agriculture Trip

SOFA 2017

Speak Out For Agriculture (SOFA) is a special program planned by teens for teens that would like to have careers in and be advocates for agriculture. SOFA is in its twenty- third year and is open to junior and senior high age youth who have just completed 7-12th grade.

During our trip each year, we focus on careers, communication, and promotion through exposure to a variety of agri-busienss related tour stops. The 2017 trip, on June 13th and 14th, will take us to Maryville, Kansas City and St. Joseph, Missouri. Stops along the way include Northwest Missouri State University, Harvesters regional food pantry in KC, and Bayer Crop Science, to name a few!

SOFA XXIII registration forms are now available, and registration is open as of Monday, May 1. Completed forms must be to the Cass or Adair County Extension office by Monday, May 15. Each County is allotted 25 total participants (including planning committee members) for the career exploration trip. Registration is on a ‘first-come, first-serve’ basis. The Extension office will not keep an ‘intent to participate’ list; a completed form, along with $40 registration fee, is the only way to guarantee a participant’s spot.

For a full tour intinerary and registration form, please see the brochure below. Brochure contains a registration form, which must be returned with the health form below, to reserve your seat on the bus. Call the Cass County Extension Office at 712-243-1132 or email Shelby at shelbyrw@iastate.edu with questions about this exciting opportunity!
