Summer Camps Available for Cass County Youth

With summer just around the corner, it's time for young people to plan out their summer vacations. Why not include camp in these plans. Day Camps, overnight camps, and conferences are available for youth of all ages.
Livestock Shows for 4-H'ers

4-H'ers with Livestock projects may want to visit Cass County this summer to participate in one of several open youth livestock shows being held. Shows will be offered for Beef, Sheep and Horse this summer. All of these will take place on the Cass County Fairgrounds in Atlantic.

4-H Endowment Quilt Block Contest

The 4-H Endowment Committee is offering a new event at the 2008 Cass County Fair. We are looking for 4-H’ers who want to enter the Quilt Block Contest. After fair all of the blocks will be put together into a quilt which will be raffled off as a fundraiser for the endowment.

Jason Brown to perform at Cass County Fair

Country singer Jason Brown of Des Moines was in Atlantic to debut his new hit "We're All in the Same Boat" on KSOM. Brown is the feature entertainment at the Cass County Fair on Tuesday, July 29. The 2008 Cass County Fair runs July 26 - August 1.

Cass County 4-H Newsletter

Registrations being taken for 2008 SOFA trip

Registrations are currently being taken for the Speak Out For Agriculture. This 2-day bus tour will travel through Central Iowa on June 19-20. Registrations are taken first come, first served, so don't delay.

Cass County 4-H'ers Interview for Area Awards

Three Cass County 4-H'ers participated in the 4-H Area Recognition Interviews held in Atlantic on March 30. Participants were selected to represent Southwest Iowa in two state-wide Youth Leadership groups, State 4-H Council and the Iowa 4-H Youth Technology Team. In addition, state project award interviews were held.

Thirty-eight 4-H'ers participated in 64 separate interviews at the Southwest Iowa 4-H Recognition Event held in Atlantic on Sunday, March 30. Participants interviews for State 4-H Council, State Technology Team, State 4-H Project Awards, National 4-H Conference, and National 4-HYouth Congress.

Iowa 4-H Youth Conference Offers Something for Everyone

Every June, over 1000 teenagers converge on the campus of Iowa State University for 3 days full of speakers, workshops, mixers, dances, a banquet, and community service activities. If you've completed 8th grade, you're eligible to attend. You don't even have to be in 4-H! This year's Conference is set for June 24-26 in Ames.

4-H Pancake Supper a Success

360 people were served at the 4-H Endowment Pancake Supper. A big thank you to all of the community members who came out to support this fundraiser. The Pancake Supper raised close to $2000.

4-H'ers for 4-H Campaign Kicks Off

The annual “4-H’ers For 4-H” campaign kicks into high gear in March with a goal of $30,000 to provide financial assistance to participants in 4-H events and financial support for a summer youth conference, all sponsored by the 4-H Youth Development program of Iowa State University (ISU) Extension.

4-H Youth Action Committee – Youth and Adults working together

The Cass County Youth Action Committee provides the opportunity for youth and adults to work together in the decision making process that impacts local youth and the 4-H program. This committee consists of an equal number of youth and adult representatives who help with planning programs and developing policy governing 4-H in Cass County.
