PEAQ estimates standing crop in field relative feed value of 1st crop alfalfa based on the height and maturity of the alfalfa. The Fact Sheet BL 22.pdf provides the details.
For the last seven years during the month of May, ISU Extension staff and farmer/agribusiness volunteers across northeast Iowa used PEAQ to check alfalfa fields in their area twice a week.
