In September, Dave Swensen, ISU Extension Economist, presented an update in Spencer, focusing on the following: Basic socio-economic condition of the region, selected key trends, industrial structure summary, regional competitive strengths and weaknesses and occupation-based indices.
Within these categories population trends were scrutinized, shares of regional industry outlays by major sectors were discussed, the top 15 private industries were ranked by total output, total value added. The top 15 commodities or services imported into the area were reviewed as well as the top 20 export trading industries by jobs.
