December 12, 2014

Farmers and landowners learned about the new programs authorized by the Agricultural Act of 2014 (commonly referred to as the Farm Bill) at three information meetings conducted recently by Buchanan County ISU Extension and Outreach and local USDA Farm Service Agency staff members.  All three meetings were free to attend and were held at Heartland Acres, Independence.

The December newsletter will feature articles including winter care for horses, planning a spring vegetable garden, home energy savings tips, estimating costs of pasture and hay production, starting a bird feeding program and more.

Dates in Buchanan County for training are Thursday, Jan. 29th, 1:30-3:30 p.m, and Thursday, Feb. 26th, 7-9 p.m., both at Heartland Acres Events Center.  Testing will be held Wednesday, March 11, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Falcon Civic Center in Independence.
