PME Schedule for 2012

Buchanan County will offer Continuing Instructional Courses (CICs) for 2012. The programs will be shown across Iowa through the Iowa State University Extension Pest Management and the Environment program (PME) and will provide continuing instructional credit for those who attend. All courses are $35 (unless otherwise stated) if paid up to a week prior to viewing, or $45 after that, and must be paid before viewing the CIC. Morel Mushroom Certification Workshops Scheduled for March and April

Individuals who would like to be able to sell morel mushrooms legally within the state of Iowa can take a three-hour certification workshop in March or April. Workshops are being offered at several locations across the state.

The Iowa State University Northern Research and Demonstration Farm will hold its association annual meeting and an educational program on March 8 at the Duncan Hall in Duncan Iowa. The program will begin at 9 a.m. and adjourn at 2 p.m.; lunch will be provided.

Annual Forest Stewardship Conference Is March 10, 2012

The 2012 Tri-State Forest Stewardship Conference is Saturday, March 10 at Sinsinawa Mound Center, Sinsinawa, Wis. One of the largest private woodland owner conferences in the nation, it  will cover a wide range of forestry and wildlife topics including timber marketing in today’s economy.

Second Farmland Drainage Workshop to Be Held Jan. 30

An ISU Extension and Outreach workshop will examine various aspects of farmland drainage on Jan. 30 at Big Ed’s Firehouse in New Hampton. The program that begins 9 a.m. and adjourns at 3:30 p.m. has been scheduled due to an overwhelming interest in a December workshop.
Virtual Eco Family Conference Connects Families to the Environment

It’s an opportunity for families to improve the environment, reduce their carbon footprint and create community close to home.
