HARVEST TIME AT THE WAVERLY COMMUNITY SHARING GARDEN

Volunteers harvest fresh vegetables twice weekly from the large plot in Waverly.  All the fresh produce is donated to appreciative area free meal sites, plus the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, which services 17 NE IA counties.  This joint project between area churches, the City of Waverly, plus ISU Bremer County Extension and Master Gardeners is in its third year.  The large plot on 2nd St. SW, had the houses removed after the devastating 2008 Cedar River flood.  Private citizens also have individual plots.
