Bremer County 4-H Awards

Awards were given to 4-H’ers who had done an outstanding job in recording their goals and accomplishments during the past 4-H year. The evaluators looked for neatness, completion of forms, citizenship and leadership in project areas and 4-H growth when selecting the winners.

This year’s Friend of 4-H Award is awarded to a business or group that supports the 4-H program. This year the award was presented to Wapsie Wranglers and Taco John’s.
4-H Clubs recognized for their contributions of $2.50 per member to the 4-H’ers for 4-H campaign to further 4-H programs and activities throughout the state were:
Cedar Chums 4-H Club, Do-R-Best 4-H Club, Polk Hustlers 4-H Club, Super Stars 4-H Club.
Intermediate (grades 7-8) Project Award winners received a plaque for each project award. 4-H members showing excellent growth in individual project areas are selected for project awards. They were:

The Alumni Award was presented to Leslie Potter. She can always be counted on when a hand is needed, or an idea needs to be generated. The support this couple gives to the program is fantastic and the quality of volunteerism cannot be unnoticed.
Senior (grades9-12) 4-H’ers selected to receive a Senior Project Award were presented a 4-H plaque with the member’s name, project and year engrave. Senior members receiving awards include:

The Wilma Beam Communications Award was sponsored by the Beam Family and presented to a 4-H’er that has been enrolled in communication for 3 years. The intermediate winner for this award was Katie Stewart of Tri-River Trendsetters 4-H Club. The 2012 Wilma Beam Outstanding Senior Communication Award Winner was Savannah Dreesman.
Leaders receiving the Award of the Gold Clover for 10 years of service is: Heidi Kramer-Bremer Ranchers and Karin Thacker-Polk Hustlers. Receiving the Award of the Ruby Clover for 50 years of service is Betty Arns-B-Square
This years’ Honorary Award was presented to Kevin & Peney Rasing. They have gone above and beyond in providing service for the 4-H’ers and those who volunteer with the program. These individuals have given their time to volunteer for a Bremer County Communication Day that was regionally attended, gave their time and talents to several committees, and supports the program by volunteering for 4-H Events or advocating for the youth.
Each year club herdsmanship is judged at the Bremer County Fair and awards are given at the 4-H Awards. Herdsmanship is decided by judges who determine cleanliness of stalls, animals, and overall conduct of 4-H’ers. This year the Beef Award was won by: Beef - Townline, Dairy - Dayton Dodgers, Horse - Jefferson Superiors, Sheep - B-Square
Club members are nominated for the volunteer award who have been outstanding in your personal volunteer life within and outside of 4-H. The 2012Junior Volunteer Award winners were Jade Umthum of Janesville Superstars. The Senior Overall Volunteer Award went to Kendall Neidert of Dayton Dodgers.
The Family Volunteer Award was presented to a family that has volunteered their time at the club, county and community level. The 2012 Family Volunteer Award winners is the Prestcott Family of the Tri-Rivers Trendsetters 4-H Club.
Haylie Krumweide awarded the national “I Dare You Leadership Award” in recognition of personal integrity, balanced living and potential for leadership.
Senior 4-H’ers who have excelled in project work and grown during their 4-H years were awarded the Senior Overall Awards. The 2012 Overall Leadership winner is

- Citizenship Award - Celina Young and Colton Kingsley
- Science and Technology –Colton Kingsley
- Ag & Natural Resources - Reba Kingsley
The highest award a 4-H’er can receive in Bremer County is the Overall Excellence Award. This award recognizes the most outstanding 4-H’er in Bremer County who has demonstrated leadership and citizenship skills along with personal growth during their 4-H years. This year’s recipient is Savannah Dreesman
