What is 4-H Safety Education in Shooting Sports (SESS)?  4-H youth learn marksmanship and safe and responsible use of firearms and archery equipment including sound decision making, self-discipline, and concentration.

4-H Shooting Sports is a national curriculum that promotes highest standards of safety, sportsmanship, and ethical behavior.  The program links to understanding natural resources, wildlife, and environmental stewardship.

Who may participate?  Any Boone County 4-H club members (4th – 12th graders) may participate and will be enrolled in SESS as a 4-H project.  An adult is asked to accompany 4th – 6th grade members at all meetings.  All parents are welcome at meetings.

To participate, parents must sign a consent form and pay $10 to help pay for ammunition and other expenses.

4-H’ers are encouraged to exhibit project skills, keep records, and do communication and citizenship activities related to shooting sports.
