Local Highlights

The 2016 Black Hawk County Farmers Markets will be located at many places throughout the county this season. If you are not familiar with farmers markets, they are a location where local vendors come together to sell freshly grown fruits and vegetables, baked goods, flowers, crafted items and much more. The markets usually take place in an outside setting, so you will need to dress accordingly for the weather that day. It’s also good to bring reusable bags or cooler to carry your new purchases around. Lastly, the majority of purchases are done with cash, so be prepared to have some on hand when headed down to your local market this year. If you have further questions about a farmers market in your area, please contact the market manager. See local list...

The plant needs indirect light, watering one to three times per week depending on the temperature, and a well-balanced fertilizer weekly in the spring and summer months, monthly in the winter. They have multiplied quickly." Says Sheila Sartorius. Read more and see useful recipes. THANKS Sheila!
