Iowans can learn how to “Preserve the Taste of Summer” during online lessons and hands-on workshops from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Black Hawk County. The online lessons already are available and a Salsa workshop is planned for Thursday September 17th in Waterloo.  After completing the on-line lessons, contact Weber to register for the Salsa Workshop.  Registration deadline for the salsa workshop is September 10th.

Junior Master Gardener Volunteer Master Gardeners will partner with the Junior Master Gardener Club, now called Green Thumb Garden Club, an afterschool program being offered at George Washington Carver School on Tuesdays and Thursdays!  Focusing on growing good kids by igniting a passion for learning, success, and service through a unique gardening education.  Read more...

Community Garden Liaison Master Gardeners will serve as a liaison for one community garden around the county. That individual will provide year round gardening educational support for target community gardens. You will be helping assist those who are willing to learn how to grow vegetables and provide food for themselves, as well as increase self-pride and esteem through success in growing a garden.  Master Gardener liaison volunteers will increase their knowledge and skill in nutrition and vegetable gardening through this volunteer service. There are many community opportunities that currently exist, from gardens within the cedar valley grows organization, at the Jesse Cosby Neighborhood Center, and Legacy Garden. Read more...
