Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has been positively identified in a residential tree in the city of Waterloo, the county seat of Black Hawk County, making this the eighth location where the invasive beetle has been found in Iowa. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Black Hawk County is offering FALL Master Gardener classes, beginning September 16 through November 25, at the Dick Young Greenhouse (at George Washington Carver Academy), 1505 Logan Avenue in Waterloo.  Cost is $195 for the Master Gardener class and $550 for Pro-Hort class.  To register, send payment to Black Hawk County Extension, 3420 University Avenue, Suite B in Waterloo (50701).  After September 2nd, a $25 late fee is assessed.  This is the only class until fall 2015 -- classes will not be offered in Spring 2015. The public is invited to attend the 2014 Summer Horticulture Webinars offered by the Iowa Master Gardener program and hosted by Black Hawk County Extension and Outreach. The theme for this year's Summer Webinar Series is “Totally Trees.” Sessions will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Black Hawk County Extension Office, 3420 University Ave., Suite B, Waterloo. Cost per session is $5 for Master Gardeners and $10 for all others.
