Every June, almost 1000 teenagers converge on the campus of Iowa State University for 3 days full of speakers, workshops, mixers, dances, a banquet, and community service activities.

If you've completed 8th grade, you're eligible to attend. You don't even have to be in 4-H to attend this conference! You will get to experience campus life, and meet new people from across the state! You will be having fun while learning by doing, dancing the nights away, and serving the community. You will get to learn new things to take back to your community and school, and in the process you might even discover something new about yourself! There are opportunities for you to share your talents with the rest of the delegation through small group discussion, the Conference Chorus, and a Talent Show! See full detail! Dare to Discover registration is now OPEN

Swine Exhibitors:

The 2015 swine rules have changed so please read carefully. There will be NO swine weigh in at Cattle Congress this year but you will still need to tag and weigh your swine like you did last year. The date for this year’s weigh in will be April 11th. Please make every effort to tag and weigh in your swine at that time. The extension office will have the scales, tags and taggers available for 4-H families to check out. You will be responsible for sending all swine information (tag numbers, weights, and pictures) into the extension office.

This year’s swine show will be a terminal show with 2 exceptions.
Exception #1: Any exhibitor that would like to take their swine to the locker directly from the Cattle Congress grounds will be allowed to do so. I have contacted Steege’s Meat Market (1-888-977-4577) and they will accept swine on Thursday, July 23rd after the show. If you have an appointment set up with your own locker please make sure your swine will be going directly to the locker from the Cattle Congress grounds.

Exception #2: Any exhibitor that would like to take pigs that have been at the Black Hawk County Fair onto the Iowa State Fair will need to contact the extension office. We will work with the fair board to determine if the location that pig will be going to is meeting all bio security guidelines that are set by the state. We are trying to do our best to be respectful of all those involved in the swine industries.
