Come join us as we travel by van with other Region 9 (Black Hawk-Bremer-Buchanan-Butler-Grundy-Tama) 4-Hers to Des Moines, to tour the State Capitol complex, visit with elected officials, gain a greater understanding of our Iowa state government and learn about our great schools and people. On Wednesday, February 24, 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th grade 4-H members & friends are planning to visit the Judicial Center, Iowa Legislature and Capitol in Des Moines, have lunch with legislators and explore the Science Center of Iowa. Attn: 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Graders. Learn about Photography though the eyes of Shannon and Colleen Graham. First we will visit their studio, S&C Design Studio at 1924 State St., Cedar Falls. Where, they will demonstrate lighting, film cameras and darkroom techniques. Then go to the Hearst Center (304 W. Sheerley Blvd, Cedar Falls) to see their display of B&W photograhy. The 2016 swine rules are the same as last year. There will be NO swine weigh in at Cattle Congress. Each family will be responsible for weighing, tagging and photographing their own swine. The date for this year’s weigh in will be April 9th. The extension office will have the scales, tags and taggers available for 4-H families to check out. You will be responsible for sending all swine information (tag numbers, weights, and pictures) into the extension office. Read more...
