Educators Available for Presentations on Emerald Ash Borer

The emerald ash borer (EAB) is a small beetle that kills all species of ash trees, including green, white, black and blue.  This federally regulated insect has been found in Iowa, including Black Hawk and Bremer counties, and has the potential to spread across the state.

Black Hawk County Master Gardeners have stepped forward to become members of the Emerald Ash Borer Education Team and now seek opportunities to speak to civic groups, city councils, churches, community organizations, neighborhood coalitions, schools, etc. on topics such as ash tree identification, signs of EAB infestation, treatment options, tree replacement and municipal requirements.  The group’s goal is to serve as an educational resource to the community.

To schedule a speaker, contact the Black Hawk County Extension office at 319.234.6811.
