February 26, 2015

Monday, Jan. 26th from 6 to 8pm at Hawkeye College. (No charge to attend, please call 319-234-6811 for reverse a space.) This informative meeting will help farmers and landowners understand their options under the Agricultural Act of 2014 (commonly referred to as the Farm Bill). Price Loss Coverage, County Agricultural Risk Coverage, and Individual Agricultural Risk Coverage will be explained. Farmland owners and operators will be making base acreage and yield update decisions; and making a one-time election for either the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) or the Price Loss Coverage (PLC) Programs.
Join ISU Extension Farm Management Specialists and staff from USDA FSA to go over some of the new farm bill provisions, discuss ARC and PLC options and to hear about the decisions to be made in the coming months. Participation is welcome for farm operators and landlords regardless of their county of operation.

4-H FLL Team won "Best Project" with their irrigation strategies for third world country farmers!
And Bricks of Brilliance will be moving ON TO STATE January 17th in Ames, Iowa! Congratualations 4-H Teams!
And the 4-H Jr FLL Team did a great job too!
Also we are always looking for Lego Leaders, if you would be interested please let us know at wolfejd@iastate.edu. Also 4-H is hosting "Robotics Training" Jan. 24 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Buena Vista County AEA and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Building in Storm Lake.

Many awards where presented at the 2014 Awards Program at the Electric Park Ballroom Sunday, Nov. 23rd. Record Book Keeping and Project awards where given to the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Levels. Also top 5 Premier Exhibitors, Leader Recognition Pins and Club Achievement Awards. More Awards included: 4-H Alumni Award, Honary Award, Guldager Merit Awards, Leadership, Carolyn Clubine Food and Nutrition Award, Communication Award, Page Mumm Beef Award, Matthew Lichty and Strein Horse Award, Citizenship and the Danforth "I Dare You" Award. And lastly the Lions Club Award.
