4-H members fed and cared for chickens as a 4-H Broiler Chick Project. This project brought 950 pounds of fresh meat delivered to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. Fresh meat is a rarity for food bank patrons. This year’s total brings the overall total to more than 1 ton of chicken donated by Blackhawk County 4-H’ers over the past 3 years. Special Thank You to: Reiter Farms, Dusk to Dawn, Charlotte and Ron Nielson, Loretta and Steve Doepke, Mike and Lynn Pipho. And to our 4-H familys: Sage's, Zuck's, Steege's, Brockelsby's, Ruzicka's, Bechthold's, Fettkether's, Pipho's, Drinovsky's, McIntoch's, Scott's, Miller's VanDaele's and Koelling's!  AWESOME JOB!

“The Northeast Iowa Food Bank greatly appreciates the partnership with Black Hawk County 4h and Extension, stated Barbara Prather, Executive Director.  There is never enough protein items available for those we serve and to watch this project from start to finish is simply amazing.  It not only provides protein items for people in need, it also enables kids to act and do something great for their community.”

Thank YOU and all of the 4H kids!, Sheri Huber-Otting, Northeast Iowa Book Bank
