28 Region 9 - 6th, 7th and 8th graders had a fun time Sept. 19 and 20th at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. They actually got to do a night hike, see an IMAX movie and sleep with the gorillas! Such a great trip that they want to plan another trip next year! Be watching for more info!

More than 6 million young people across the country will celebrate National 4-H Week, an annual celebration of 4-H during the first full week of October.  Black Hawk Extension will be hosting an OPEN HOUSE so the public can learn more about 4-H! Thursday, October 8th 6:00 - 8:00pm at Extension. 
• Come learn more about 4-H in our community. (Not just for families living in the country!)
• Take part in some "Hands-On Activities
• Have a Healthy Snack
• And help with "Joining 4-H!"

National 4-H Council is now accepting applications for the annual Youth in Action Awards to be presented at the seventh annual Legacy Awards in Washington, D.C. on April 12, 2016.

As one of the highest honors achieved, the 2016 awards have expanded to honor one remarkable 4-H’er within each pillar area: Agriculture and Animal SciencesCitizenshipHealthy Living; and STEM. Read more...

Statewide Resources

  • Provides opportunities for youth to develop skills they can use now and throughout their life, empowering them to reach their full potential working and learning in partnership with caring adults.

  • Statewide updates posted each Thursday afternoon by the State 4-H Office. Check it out every week to keep up-to-date on events, grants, forms, fair info, and fun!

  • Join a 4-H club where you can learn about your interests while having fun, improving your communication skills, and serving your community. These are resources to make your club experience even better.

  • Your adventure in 4-H starts here. Choose from nearly 50 project areas and discover your skills, talents and interests.

    Every June, 1000 teenagers converge on the Iowa State University campus for 3 days of speakers, workshops, mixers, dances, a banquet, and community service activities. If you've completed 8th-12th grade, you're eligible to attend. Non-4-H members are welcome.

  • Youth and teens can discover opportunities to be recognized for personal growth, project learning, leadership and citizenship. 

  • Clover Kids is a FUN 4-H program for children in kindergarten through third grade. Children participate in hands-on activities designed to build many life skills!
