Join Black Hawk County 4-H for our Green Thumb Workshop on March 18th. The workshop will be from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Dick Young Greenhouse in Waterloo. Participants will learn about plant propagation and keeping newly divided plants flourishing while creating their very own Fairy Garden to Exhibit at the Black Hawk County 4-H and FFA Fair in July!  Iowa State University Extension & Outreach in Black Hawk County is hosting School Garden 101 (SG101), a hands-on workshop series for school staff interested in starting or better utilizing a school garden. Participants will build gardening skills, learn how to integrate garden activities with standards-based curriculum, and have an opportunity to learn and collaborate with staff from their own school as well as other Black Hawk County teachers. SG101 will take place at George Washington Carver Academy in Waterloo from 6-8 PM on Tuesday evenings March 21, March 28, April 14, April 11, and April 18. Cost is $60 per school team of 3 or more staff.

The Hawkeye Farm Show will be held February 28-March 2 inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The event runs from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. daily, with over 200 exhibitors participating. ISU Extension and Outreach will host two educational seminars daily during the three day event, with discussions focusing on challenges and important topics facing farmers during the upcoming planting season. Each seminar will be held in the Alumni Suite of the adjacent McLeod Center. Read More...
