A Webster City business, Iowa’s First, has taken a proactive approach to circumventing the economic losses in livestock production by moving into fish farming. Mark and Jeff Nelson are producing hybrid striped bass in their unused hog facility. With the assistance of ISU Extension and Outreach they hope to create an aquaculture hub in central Iowa.
The Agricultural Marketing Resource Center (AgMRC) offers a new, free curriculum to educate youth on opportunities for rural development through value-added agriculture.
The Agricultural Marketing Resource Center provides producer groups with information for use in applying for the USDA Rural Business and Cooperative Service value-added producer grants, announced in the Federal Register Aug. 15, 2012.
Producer groups can receive assistance from the Agricultural Marketing Resource Center in gathering information for use in applying for the USDA Rural Business and Cooperative Service value-added producer grants.
