A workshop to train livestock producers and service providers on how to use the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation 2 (RUSLE2) and the Iowa Phosphorus Index for use in nutrient management and manure management plans is planned for March 20 in Altoona, Iowa.
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host meetings in Madrid on Feb. 28 and Dubuque on March 6 to address emerging opportunities related to stover harvesting for the biomass feedstock needs of local industries.
Various aspects of farmland drainage is the topic of a Dec. 12 workshop at Manatt Community Center in Brooklyn. The program begins at 9 a.m. and will adjourn at 3:30 p.m. Advanced registration is recommended.

The Corn Stover Harvest Meeting will begin at 1 p.m. in Christy Hall, Story County Extension Office, Nevada.
Drainage systems that are properly designed and operating are essential to achieving excellent agricultural production capability. The Iowa Drainage School is being offered to address these issues on Aug. 21-23 at the Field Extension Education Laboratory (FEEL) between Ames and Boone, Iowa.
The 2012 Midwest Composting School will be held July 24-26 at the Iowa State Dairy Farm and Iowa State University Composting Facility.

An ISU Extension and Outreach workshop will examine various aspects of farmland drainage on Jan. 30 at Big Ed’s Firehouse in New Hampton. The program that begins 9 a.m. and adjourns at 3:30 p.m. has been scheduled due to an overwhelming interest in a December workshop.
Four individuals, a radio station and a TV station were honored as 2011 Friends of Extension by the Iowa Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi, a national honorary extension fraternity. The awards were presented Nov. 3 during the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach annual conference in Ames.
A drainage workshop planned for Dec. 15 will examine various aspects of farmland drainage, according to Iowa State University engineers who will conduct the workshop. The 2011 Farmland Drainage Workshop will cover the basics of planning a new drainage system or retrofitting an existing system.
