Iowa State University agronomy professor Matt Liebman will discuss agricultural stability during the Iowa Learning Farms’ webinar Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 11:30 a.m. All that is needed to participate is a computer with Internet access.

Iowa Learning Farms and Wapello County NRCS will co-host a field day near Martinsburg on Friday, Sept. 7, focusing on cover crop management for optimum results as part of the Competine Creek Watershed project. The field day is free and the public is invited to attend. A free lunch will follow the field day program.
 

Iowa Learning Farms, along with the Cedar River Coalition and Lime Creek Watershed Council, will host a field day on the Richard Sloan farm, near Brandon, Iowa, on Friday, Aug. 24, beginning at 10 a.m. The field day is free and open to the public.

The Iowa Learning Farms’ Aug. 15 webinar will feature a conversation with Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey at the Iowa State Fair. Northey will discuss a variety of issues including the state of agriculture today and what the future holds for Iowa farmers.

Iowa Learning Farms, Practical Farmers of Iowa and Mitchell County NRCS/SWCD will co-host a field day at the John Schwarck farm near Riceville, Iowa, on Tuesday, Aug. 21, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The field day will highlight management options to successfully add cover crops to a row crop rotation.

The Iowa Learning Farms’ July 18 webinar will feature young farmer Nathan Anderson. Anderson, from Cherokee, farms with his wife, Sarah, and family and serves as a Cherokee County Soil and Water District commissioner, involved in Practical Farmers of Iowa and other community and agricultural organizations.

A tour of Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program wetlands in Emmet County will be held on Tuesday, July 24, beginning at 1:30 p.m. CREP specialists with IDALS, will lead the tour and talk about the benefits, installation and financial incentives for these structures.

Iowa Learning Farms will host a field day near Leon, beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11. The field day will include a pasture walk at Triple C Farms and will focus on pasture improvement.
