USDA-NIFA, CDC and Cooperative Extension Team Up for Vaccine Education in Rural America

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently provided $9.95 million in funding to USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture to support an innovative approach to community education and partnerships to advance adult immunization. This is the two agencies’ first concentrated vaccine education effort in rural America.

Midwestern farmers, ranchers and agricultural workers have direct access to a new tool to help manage stress, anxiety, depression or substance use issues. The newly launched website, farmstress.org, is aimed at providing the agricultural community with resources and support through the North Central Farm and Ranch Assistance Center.
