Nearly 700 Iowa 4-H youth, families and friends cheered on the Iowa State University Women’s Basketball team during 4-H Day at Hilton Coliseum. The fourth annual event attracted 4-H’ers from throughout the state.

Parents can exert a measure of control over their child’s mobile phone use by limiting use, checking its contents and using it to monitor the whereabouts of their offspring. However, with a few exceptions, these activities by parents do not seem to impact patterns of cell phone use by teens, according to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach family life specialists.

Money Talk, an online class offered through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, gives women the knowledge to make those decisions and improve their lives. Sue and Harold Peyton of Sac County have established the Peyton Family Scholarship through the Iowa 4-H Foundation. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an Iowa State University student in a major related to agriculture who will be a sophomore, junior or senior in fall 2012.
