The top 10 films produced by Iowa teens and preteens have been selected for the 2011 Iowa 4-H Film Festival. The films will be shown Friday, Aug. 12, 3:30-5:30 p.m., on the big screen in the 4-H Exhibits Building at the Iowa State Fair.

The Connecting Families to the Environment Conference will help families learn how to improve their physical, mental and financial health by looking at the environment around them. The conference is Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Borlaug Learning Center located at the Iowa State University Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm near Nashua.

Seventy Iowa youths in grades 5-12 will talk food and "Cook This!" at the Iowa State Fair. The youths will compete in three- and four-member teams during this three-part culinary challenge Aug. 15, 16 and 17.
