Seventeen Iowa 4-H members have received $1,000 Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarships sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Agriculture Advancement. In addition, one 4-H’er has received the $2,000 Iowa State Fair Mark Pearson Memorial Scholarship, also sponsored by IFAA. Recipients are from Boone, Bremer, Butler, Calhoun, Clinton, Des Moines, Franklin, Hardin, Harrison, Jackson, Johnson, Louisa, Madison, O’Brien, Winneshiek and Worth counties.

Visitors at the North Grand Farmers' Market in Ames on Saturday, Aug. 25 will get to see the debut of the newest trailer in the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Conservation Station fleet. In addition, visitors to the farmers' market will get a preview of the new statewide youth water education campaign " Water Rocks!" that will be launched formally in spring 2013.

The Governor’s STEM Council announced last week the call for applications to participate in the STEM Scale Up programs. School teachers, youth organization leaders, informal education professionals and other organizations delivering STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) educational programs are encouraged to apply online before the Sept. 14 deadline.
