Step into the limelight at the Iowa 4-H Film Festival. Aspiring youth directors and actors will bring their talents to the big screen Aug. 17, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. during the public screening at the 4-H Exhibit Building during the Iowa State Fair.

Eighteen 4-H scholarships have been awarded by Hills Bank and Trust Co. The company gave $1,000 leadership grants to Iowa students who completed a 4-H leadership program during their senior year of high school.

Fayette County’s senior Dairy Quiz Bowl team placed first in the annual 4-H Youth Dairy Quiz Bowl, June 6 in Arlington. The team will represent Iowa 4-H at the National 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl in Louisville, Ky., in November.

Seven students from Iowa attended the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and two received awards at the May 12-17 event in Phoenix, Ariz. Intel ISEF is part of Society for Science and the Public, a nonprofit organization dedicated to science education and research.

Fifty Iowa 4-H'ers have been selected to receive state 4-H project awards in 2013. More than 130 4-H youth applied for the awards this year, which are given to youth who have demonstrated mastery, leadership, communication and service in a specific project area.
