Twelve Iowa 4-H’ers participated in the 2013 National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational June 23-28 in Grand Island, Neb. Some 540 participants from 36 different states and 33 teams competed in the three-day event.

Eight hundred high school students from every corner of Iowa attended the state 4-H Youth Conference in June. The conference gives youth the opportunity to meet new friends, find new opportunities, and learn about the community and themselves.

The 4-H’ers for 4-H Campaign raised $24,063.27 to support Iowa 4-H youth programs and activities. All funds from the campaign help families across the state by providing financial assistance for program fees and for youth to attend 4-H camps, intermediate trips and state events such as the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

Twenty-nine Iowa 4-H clubs have been awarded DuPont Pioneer Rural Community Improvement “Seed” grants totaling nearly $10,000. The grants, ranging from $50 to $500 per club, will be used to seed community improvement projects implemented by local 4-H clubs.
