Iowa youth have until June 1 to register for the Iowa 4-H Film Festival Aug. 12 at the Iowa State Fair. Youth who have completed any of grades 5-12 are eligible to participate in the event, creating films that educate, inspire, or are "just 4 fun."

Armed with an all-American theme and 200 prom dresses to tear apart for material, teams of Iowa teens will design original gowns during the third annual Stitch This! 4-H Design Challenge Aug. 19-20 at the Iowa State Fair. The winning team’s design will be professionally prototyped, mass produced and made available nationwide.

Volunteer shooting sports instructors from throughout the United States will come to Central Iowa for the National 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Workshop May 15-20. Registration is open to current adult volunteers in state 4-H shooting sports programs.

In Johnson County, 4-H has offered mentoring services through an affiliation with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBS) for 30 years. This year, Johnson County 4-H developed a program that combines the one-to-one mentoring of BBBS and the club community activities of 4-H into one program.
