Forty Iowa teens are beginning their terms as members of the Iowa 4-H Youth Council. The young leaders will serve as 4-H ambassadors in their home counties and throughout the regions they represent in the state. They also will participate in various statewide functions.

This year, 427 clubs raised more than $27,000 to support Iowa 4-H youth programs. The 4-H’ers for 4-H campaign is the largest and longest-running fundraising campaign conducted by Iowa 4-H members for 4-H members.

The 16th annual Central Iowa 4-H Golf Benefit will be Monday, July 16, at the Hyperion Field Club in Johnston. This event benefits Iowa 4-H youth programs throughout the state.

Recipients of the 2012 state 4-H project awards were recognized at the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference on June 28. A state 4-H project award is the highest achievement 4-H’ers can receive in 4-H Youth Development project work through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

The Dubuque County Senior Dairy Quiz Bowl Team placed first in the annual 4-H Youth Dairy Quiz Bowl June 6. The team will represent Iowa 4-H at the National 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl in Louisville, Ky., in November.
