Allie Lansman, a youth ambassador for the National 4-H Healthy Living Management Team, was featured on the Biggest Loser show last fall for her efforts in helping young people have healthier lives. She will be Iowa State's special guest at the Varied Industries Building Aug. 15 and Aug. 17.

The science of auto racing and a fast time behind the wheel await some Iowa 4-H youth July 30. Approximately 30 youth will learn about science, technology, engineering and math in NASCAR and challenge NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace to a go cart race.

Cathann Kress, Iowa State University vice president for extension and outreach, has received The 2015 Spirit of Crazy Horse Award from Reclaiming Youth International and the Starr Global Learning Network. Kress joins a long list of leaders in research, policy and practice whose contributions have advanced work with children and youth.

The Youth Environmental Agriculture Field Days program recently earned the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council Seal of Approval. Eight other programs from around Iowa also received this STEM Seal of Approval. It is given to programs that enculturate, sustain and spread STEM thinking.

Delaware County’s Senior Dairy Quiz Bowl Team, Delaware #1, placed first in the annual 4-H Youth Dairy Quiz Bowl, held June 10 at the Starmont High School in Arlington. The team will represent Iowa 4 H at the National 4 H Dairy Quiz Bowl in Louisville, Ky., in November.

A total of 152 4-H youth from 55 counties completed written applications and face-to-face interviews for the state-level 4-H award opportunity this year. The awards are given to youth who have exhibited mastery, leadership, communication and service in a specific project area.
