Forty-two Iowa youth are beginning their new terms as State 4-H Council members. They were inducted during the closing ceremonies of the 2016 Iowa 4-H Youth Conference on June 30. These young leaders will serve as ambassadors for the 4-H Youth Development program throughout the state and in their local counties.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has hired two youth program specialists to work with the 4-H Youth Development Program in central Iowa. Tiffany Berkenes and Marisue Hartung will serve Polk, Warren, Dallas and Madison counties.

Fifty-one Iowa 4-H’ers have received 2016 state 4-H project awards. These 4-H youth are recognized as the top winners in their project areas across the state. The awards are given to youth who have exhibited mastery, leadership, communication and service in a specific project area.
