A farm just outside Gilmore City is home to Iowa State University’s Agriculture Drainage Research and Demonstration Site, a facility that has been working to further Iowa State University’s water conservation efforts since 1990.
The inaugural Iowa Small Farms Conference is scheduled for Feb.13 in Ames, Iowa. Keynote speaker Daniel Salatin of Polyface Farms will be featured along with a wide variety of educational options, a trade show, lunch and giveaways.

Iowa State University Department of Animal Science and ISU Extension and Outreach are conducting a meat judging coaches clinic Feb. 14 at the Iowa State Meat lab in Kildee Hall on the Iowa State campus. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The W.K. Kellogg Foundation has elected Cathann Kress as a new trustee to its board of directors. Kress is Iowa State University’s vice president for extension and outreach and a tenured professor in the school of education.
