Overview:This course is designed for producers who have a basic understanding of Quality Management Systems and are prepared to start the process of developing a plan for implementing a QMS in there operation. This course WILL NOT completely prepare you for ISO or similar QMS certification, but it will significantly aid you in the process of planning, organizing and preparing a work platform to start from. Registration is available online.
QMS (Quality Management Systems) is a general term for a systematic approach to business and production processes with an emphasis on the customer and on quality outcomes. Examples of existing systems are International Organization for Standardization (ISO-9000) and USDA Process-Verified. Related is the USDA Certified Organic program and label. The most comprehensive version is ISO, since it addresses all aspects of a producer's business with emphasis on planning, measurement and analysis as well as contract review, customer satisfaction and document management.
