Every year, top producers from the county are recognized at the banquet. In addition, several other awards are presented that evening. The Allamakee Dairy Promotion Board are accepting nominations, scholarship applicants, and dairy princess applicants for the upcoming banquet.
 
The Scholarship & Dairy Princess deadline is March 1, 2017.
Dairy nominations deadline is March 1, 2017.

Many Iowans use deicing salts to rid their properties of snow and ice, and deicing trucks and snowplows also spread chemicals on roads and streets. But these chemicals can have a negative effect on landscape plants. Are there precautions to take to avoid damage?

Start to Farm: New Farmer Learning Networks are for beginning and early-career farmers looking for an edge in managing and growing their farm business.  The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Dairy Team will continue their dairy beginning farmer series to improve business practices and production techniques, tour successful farm operations, and to form a community to share new ideas and profitable farming methods.

The 2017 Beginning Farmer Retreat is intended for beginning farmers who are motivated to improve their financial and business knowledge for their existing or future farm. The weekend will feature plenty of social time, small group discussions, group activities led by an expert and individual work time.
