Allamakee County 4-H Leader Memo for week of
April 1, 2013 (New or updated information is in green font)
I will not send a memo next week as I will be in Washington, D.C. for the 4-H Citizenship trip.
If you need 4-H assistance, please contact Lana and she can contact me if needed.
April Newsletter:
The newsletter will be out on Thursday of this week. Our Internet was down on Monday and Lana is out until Thursday. We apologize for any convenience. Please call the office if we can assist you.
REMINDER: Club Activities and Insurance-
If your club is going on a field trip, please remember:
- you need to contact me a couple of weeks ahead of time, so I can purchase insurance (20cents/per person)
- parents who drive your youth cannot be alone with them unless they have had background checks
- and they need a DOT clearance (a form to fill out)
- please remember to take club member Medical Forms with you on all field trips
- you cannot take any youth with you who are not enrolled in 4-H, unless you have a participation form from each
- I understand this is a lot of things to do before your club can go, but it is for our youth’s safety and your liability as a leader. Thank you for understanding the process.
Leaders’ Training:
Please remember that if you need to complete either the Risk Management Training from last fall or Experiential Learning or both you must have them completed before July 1, 2013 (ISU requirement). I will be mailing out additional reminders this week. Some leaders are choosing to come into the office and do the trainings with me, online. Each training takes approximately 1 hour each. Thank you for taking the time to complete these necessary steps. Your dedication to Iowa 4-H Volunteer training helps us deliver quality programming. Reminder: I will not be available for training from April 3- 13.

Summer Camp Opportunities:
We are in the process of planning summer opportunities:

If your club has elected a new Treasurer, there is a chance that your bank will need some sort of verification of the new person in this role. Please let me know if you need a document for your bank.
Workshop Ideas:
The County Council and I are looking at ideas for workshops. We are considering a day-long event that includes many project areas. We will need at least 6 volunteers- so please let me know before April 26 if you can assist. I am looking at hosting an event either on a Sunday afternoon in May or a weekday during early June. Please share your thoughts and ideas.
Fund Raiser! Thunder in the Park Event:
The Waukon Chamber of Commerce is looking for groups to serve food at the 1st Annual Thunder in the Park event in Waukon, June 8-9. They need groups of 5 or more to serve food such as: hotdogs, hamburgers, fries, ice cream, pies, etc. Groups will keep all the profits!
