Odor Control for Dry Manure
Storage Practices
Malodor (an odor that is undesirable) is the result of incomplete
anaerobic decomposition of stored manure. During the decomposition
process, malodorous intermediate compounds are produced and can
accumulate if the populations of bacteria that degrade these compounds
are insufficient. These accumulations result in odor nuisance.
Following is a summary of practices that can be used to reduce
odors from manure storage facilities.
