Dust and Particulate Control for Manure Storage Practices with Dry Manure - Stockpiling

Pro Con
Material is less likely to move off-site Stockpiles can become anaerobic causing more odor

If possible, avoid long-term stockpiling of manure. Unmanaged stockpiles will eventually exclude oxygen, and even if the stockpiles are not odorous, old stockpiled manure releases more odor when land applied than manure that is exposed to oxygen. If stockpiling is necessary, minimize the stockpile size.
