West Liberty Foods produces a wide variety of ready-to-eat products and they feel it is extremely important to assure the food safety of their products.
Provide food safety training to employees of West Liberty Foods.
Iowa State University Meat Science Extension, in cooperation with S.E. Iowa Area Extension and West Liberty Foods, conducted during FY05 at Mount Pleasant Center 45 pre-employment food safety training programs. A total of 865 people participated in one of these training sessions.
West Liberty Foods is a major producer of pre-cooked sliced turkey providing product to over 6,000 restaurants. As a result of this training the safety of their products has been improved.
