Logan Carlson, 14, of Corning, son of Tami and Greg Carlson competed October 11 at the State 4-H Safety Education and Shooting Sports (SESS) qualifying event at Big Springs range near Montezuma. Logan competed in air rifle and shotgun events. He placed 3rd in air rifle and tied for 3rd in shotgun. He lost the shoot off for the tie breaker and received 4th place. He was awarded medals in both events. He also shot 25 out of 25 trap targets and was awarded a commemorative medallion by Big Springs. It was his first perfect 25 ever and the only one of the day. He has qualified for the National SESS shoot in Nebraska in 2009. Three 4-Hers in each event are selected to participate. SESS shotgun coach is David Fuller, rifle coach and SESS coordinator is Barb Fuller. This is the first time Adams County has had a 4-Her compete in a state event.
