High school teens wishing to develop and use their leadership skills have a number of options through the 4-H program. Teens can participate in 4-H by joining a 4-H community club or as an Independent member; the Independent option is for teens that can’t fit a regular meeting into their schedule due to school, church, or work conflicts.
In addition to the membership in 4-H, teens can select to join the Adair County 4-H Youth Council. The Council designs their agenda for the year which typically includes a wide variety of leadership projects, service efforts and fundraising. All high school students are eligible to be part of the team, however an application is required. Applications are due to the Adair County Extension office by Friday, September 11th. The application can be downloaded at www.extension.iastate.edu/adair/kidsteens.htm
The Adair County Youth Action Committee is also seeking high school 4-H and FFA members to be part of this decision-making group. The group appointed by the Extension Council is in charge of setting county policy, including developing rules for 4-H and FFA divisions at the county fair, assisting with fund raising, and overseeing the recognition program. Applications are available at the Extension office or online
