Poultry nutrition and health will be the theme for a special workshop aimed for youth set for Saturday, May 17th from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at the old 4-H building on the Adair County Fairgrounds in Greenfield. Ben Varley, former Adair County 4-H’er and a junior in Animal Science at Iowa State University, and Karen Varley, Adair County 4-H and FFA Poultry Superintendent, will present information on all aspects of the 4-H and FFA poultry project. The workshop will include information on nutrition and health, selection, grooming birds for showing, and showmanship tips.

The workshop is open to all 4-H and FFA members. Youth are encouraged to bring their questions and their favorite chicken or waterfowl to the workshop.

There is no cost to attend the workshop. Any youth with a poultry project or that is interested in starting a poultry project is invited to attend. Parents are encouraged to attend, too. Although there is no fee, sign up is requested. Call the Adair County Extension Office at 641-743-8412 or 1-800-ISUE399 or email wallaced@iastate.edu by May 15th  to sign-up.
