Registration Flyer-Family Storyteller, Greenfield
Reading to children at home is one of the most important things parents can do to help prepare them for success in school. Family reading can be lots of fun. Adair County Extension is teaming up with community partners to bring the nationally acclaimed Family Storyteller program to area families this fall.
The program is designed for parents/caregivers of children between the ages of 3 and 5. Both the parent/s and child/ren come to the weekly sessions where they explore a book together and complete hands-on related activities. Each family receives the book to keep and home activity packets.
The first series of Family Storyteller is scheduled for Greenfield on Thursday evenings from September 11 to October 16th. The program will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Family Rewards/Growing Strong Families building located at 141 Public Square. The class will be taught by Nina Utterback, Growing Strong Families parent educator and Angie Powell. Free on-site child care will be available for siblings. Sign up for the Greenfield program by contacting the Adair County Extension office at 641-743-8412 or by emailing powella@iastate.edu.
The same program is also scheduled for Monday evenings in Orient beginning October 6th. The Public Resource Technology Center is the program sponsor of the Orient series and these sessions will be held at the Resource Center located in the O-M School building. To sign up for the series in Orient, contact Sharon Mensing or Donna Miller, public librarians, at 641-337-5061 x124.
Partial funding for Family Storyteller is provided through a grant from the FACT Empowerment Area.
