4-H’ers and Volunteers to Be Honored
4-H’ers will celebrate the achievements of the past year during a special recognition program on Sunday, November 11th at 2:00 p.m. The community is invited to attend the event at the Warren Cultural Center on the east side of the square in Greenfield. During the special program all eleven community clubs will be recognized for their accomplishments. In addition, individual 4-H’ers will be honored with tenure and project awards.
Special awards will be presented to the outstanding members in each age grouping during the ceremony. Twenty-one youth will be presented with special certificates signed by President Barack Obama for serving the community through volunteer work.
4-H Alumni and Friend of 4-H winners will be introduced. These honorees are nominated by 4-H members and are selected based on their long-term commitment to the Adair County 4-H program. In addition, fifteen adults will be recognized with Awards of the Clover for their tenure as 4-H volunteers. The program will conclude with the installation of the 2012-13 4-H Youth Council.
4-H Awards Day guests are invited to participate in a service project as part of the event. Hank Bohling, a member of the Summerset Citizens, is continuing the service project he began three years ago. Hank is urging people to donate holiday cards and envelopes for veterans and current members of the armed services. The cards can be purchased or home-made and can be dropped off at Awards Day or at the Extension office prior to Awards Day. Hank will have a special Holiday Mail for Heroes table at Awards Day where 4-H’ers and families can sign cards and write messages of encouragement.
Immediately following the program the Adair County Hot Shots 4-H club will be serving refreshments during an informal reception for all award winners. The public is invited to attend the 4-H Awards Day program.
