Live Healthy Adair County Kickoff Event

Form a 2-10 member Live Healthy Iowa Team and sign up now for the 100 Day Wellness Challenge. Adair County residents can enroll at a special event on Sunday, January 11 at the Adair County Health and Fitness Center in Greenfield. From 3-5 pm, your whole team is invited to stop by and register, use the Fitness Center free, sign up for door prizes, get a blood pressure check, and lots of free information to help you make 2009 your Healthiest Year ever.

Iowa State University Extension–Adair County will be hosting a Pro Agricultural Outlook meeting Wednesday, January 21. The meeting will be at the 4-H/FFA Center on the Adair County Fairgrounds in Greenfield. The meeting will run from10:00 a.m. to1:00 p.m. with a complimentary lunch. The seminar is designed to provide agricultural producers & agribusiness leaders with a concise evaluation of current market conditions, expected trends in crop and livestock income potential and management implications. Sign-up needed by Friday, January 16.

4 State Beef Conference

4 State Beef Conference

The ISU Armstrong Research Farm near Lewis will be hosting the 25th annual 4-State Beef Conference on Thursday, January 15th. The Conference is designed to provide an annual update on current cow-calf and stocker topics and features speakers from across the nation. Cost is $25 per person which includes lunch and all-day conference proceedings. Sign up is needed at county Extension Office by Friday, January 9th.

Youth Identify Beef for Fair

Adair County 4-H and FFA members, parents and volunteers worked in good winter weather conditions Monday, December 29th weighing and tagging beef animals at the Adair County Fairgrounds in Greenfield. The 151 head identified by 51 potential exhibitors at the weigh-in are now eligible to be exhibited at the Adair County Fair scheduled for July 22-26, 2008. This is an increase of 22 head over 2007.

Adair County land values increased by 12.4% in 2008 according to the ISU Annual Land Value Survey. Results of the survey show the average value for Adair County land in 2007 as $2742 and in $3081 in 2008. The state average went up 14.3%.

Join Clover Kids

Join Clover Kids

First through Third graders are invited to join Clover Kids.  The group meets the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at the Extension Office meeting room in Greenfield to play active games, make crafts, explore books, and enjoy a nutritious snack.  There is a one-time $10 registration fee. The next Clover Kids meeting will be Saturday, February 7th. New members may sign up anytime before February 5th.
