Answers to the Fire Safety Quiz

Question. If a fire does occur in your home, what is the first thing you should do?

Answer. c. Close the door to the room on fire, leave immediately, call 911 from next door.

Close the door to the room on fire if possible, this will help confine the fire until the fire department arrives.

Alert everyone in the house to evacuate immediately as per the evacuation plan (you should have a plan; and practice that plan).

Call the fire department (dial 911) from the neighbors house. DO NOT CALL FROM YOUR HOUSE - GET OUT AND STAY OUT!!

Try to remain as calm as possible. If your smoke detector is working properly, it will give you enough time to evacuate safely. DO NOT take time to gather prized possessions. Your lives are the most prized possessions that you have. Save yourself; let the fire department save your property.
