Leaves are important means of determining the different species of trees.
A compound leaf has several leaflets attached to a common stem. These are
all examples of compound leaves:
The ashes, locusts, and hickories are examples of trees with compound
leaves.
Trees with simple leaves include the oaks, maples, and elms. Here are
some different leaf shapes of trees with simple leaves:
