National Association of County Agricultural Agents

In 1916, a group of county agents joined together and formed what is known today as the National Association of County Agricultural Agents. NACAA membership is open to any member of a state association that meets the requirements of the bylaws of NACAA.

Headed by officers and directors, NACAA conducts a nationwide program to improve Extension work through high standards of professional performance. In seeking this objective, NACAA encourages and promotes:

  • high standards of professionalism
  • scholarships for members to continue their graduate studies
  • awards and recognition for outstanding professional achievements
  • workshops and seminars on current key issues
NACAA members gather for their Annual Meeting and Professional Improvement Conference to share ideas, recognize achievements, attend professional workshops and plan future programs. During this meeting, agents also take educational tours to learn more about agriculture and natural resources to broaden their professional horizons.

The NACAA Educational Foundation administers a scholarship fund for use by NACAA members. It is vested at over $400,000 with individual and group awards of $30,000 given annually.

The County Agent, a professional magazine is produced quarterly and mailed to agents across the United States.

NACAA has an approximate annual membership of 5,000 county agents, plus a strong group of 2,500 retired life-time members.

NACAA started out as a small seed of an idea many years ago, and has flourished to become one of the strongest organizations in the nation. NACAA members are caring professionals who continue to be dedicated to professional excellence.
