Continuing Instruction Courses for Private Pesticide Applicators in East-Central and Southeast Iowa

Continuing Instruction Courses (CIC's) are designed for who desire to renew their Private Pesticide Applicator's Certificate by attending a class each year, as opposed to renewing by taking a test once every three years. CIC's are for applicators who are currently certified; if the certification has expired and the third CIC is not completed by April 15 following certificate expiration, testing is required for renewal.

If your certificate expired on December 31, 2007, you will not need to take the test to renew your certificate if you attend a CIC in the winter of 2007-2008 (this winter), you attended one in 2006-2007 (last winter), and you attended in 2005-2006 (the winter before last winter). If you miss one or more, you will need to take the test to renew when your current certificate expires.

If your certificate will expire on December 31, 2008, you will not need to take the test to renew your certificate if you attend a CIC in the winter of 2008-2009 (next winter), 2007-2008 (this winter), and you attended one in 2006-2007 (last winter). If you miss one or more, you will need to take the test to renew when your current certificate expires.

If your certificate will expire on December 31, 2009, you will not need to take the test to renew your certificate if you attend a CIC in the winter of 2009-2010 (two winters from now), 2008-2009 (next winter), and 2007-2008 (this winter). If you miss one or more, you will need to take the test to renew when your current certificate expires.

If your certificate will expire on December 31, 2010, you will not need to take the test to renew your certificate if you attend a CIC in the winter of 2010-2011 (three winters from now), 2009-2010 (two winters from now), and 2008-2009 (next winter); you do not need to attend a CIC this winter (2007-2008). If you miss one or more, you will need to take the test to renew when your current certificate expires.

All of the above assumes the law does not change between now and then, of course.
