Manure Management Meetings

Confinement Site (Private) Operators

Livestock Confinement Site Operators may become certified as a manure applicator by either taking a test or by attending training. Certification is required for manure applications by Confinement Site Operators. Training sessions must include 120 minutes of actual instruction, excluding breaks, introductory comments, etc., so participants should plan for the meetings to end approximately two hours and fifteen minutes after they begin. (Confinement Site Operators may also become certified by attending the instruction for commercial applicators. However, that meeting will be considerably longer and attendance for the entire time will be required in order for the training to be valid for confinement site operator certification.) The meetings in 2008 in east-central and southeast Iowa are shown below.

Commercial Manure Applicators

Commercial Manure Applicators may become certified as a manure applicator by either taking a test or by attending training. Training sessions must include 180 minutes of actual instruction, excluding breaks, introductory comments, etc., so participants should plan for the meetings to end approximately 3.5 hours after they begin. For 2008, a satellite program was held on January 4, 2008.
